The artworks in this exhibition were highly influenced by the early 20th century sculptural tradition called biomorphic abstraction.  Artists such as Jean Arp, Constantin Brancusi and Henry Moore all participated in this early modern movement in sculpture.

Many contemporary artists like Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg and Louise Bourgeois have experimented with biomorphic abstraction ever since.  Inspired by personal experiences and filtered through the lens of popular science I explored the organic process of making sculpture as a biological process.  Using a variety of materials, I was most interested in the expressive potential of color and texture as well as interior and exterior form.
