The artworks in my MFA thesis exhibition explore the myth narratives and fake rituals of an ancient culture which has collided with modern society and technology.
“The Watchur” are a fictional society of robe clad monks who are presiding over the sacred rituals of the information age and the mythologizing of images that stream in from a magical source. The installation is intended to be staged as if the audience is observing a natural history display of artifacts, dioramas and images illustrating dramatic ritual use of the artifacts. It is intended to be playful yet poignant, humorous yet humanizing.
